Water and ice

Over the last weekend we took the Juniorette to the cinema to watch Ice Age 2. We really enjoyed the movie even though it probably wasn't as good as the first one, but still it was very entertaining. This time around the prehistoric squirrel gets a bigger role in the movie which is quite funny. It was a good all round family entertainment movie. The Juniorette really does like trips to the Kino.

Last week the Juniorette passed her silver swimming award. She had to swim 12 lengths of breaststroke and 4 lengths of backstroke within 25 minutes. She managed it in 16 mins. She also had to swim 10m underwater and dive for some rings in the deeper end of the pool. This was followed by a verbal test on the do's and don'ts of swimming. She was really proud of her achievement, and quite rightly so.

Congrats to the Juniorette! You must be really proud!

I am wanting to see this movie, but wish I could find a place to see it in English. I can follow the story in Italian, but the lost on the details. Ah such is the life of an expat...

Wow, and she's only in the first grade? What a Sportskanone! Congratulations Juniorette!

I can barely remember what happened in the first Ice Age so I'd probably be quite happy to sit through #2 and think it was great. I do like that little prehistoric squirrel or whatever he is.

We went to the movies in Bremen on the opening weekend of Ice Age 2. It was 5pm on Sunday and the theater was packed. We could not get up the stares. There were TONS of kids and parents and they were standing around looking at something and taking lots of pictures. A celebrity in Bremen? Nope, it was the mamouth from the movie.

Maribeth - She most certainly is! :)

Cynthia - I think the Juniorette is part fish sometimes. I watched the movie in German. For the English version we'll probably buy it on DVD when its released :)

Karen - Very proud indeed. When she is old enough she wants to laern scuba diving so we can go diving together :)

Lisa - When she decides to do something she tends to go for it :)

Christina - LOL! Sportskanone! She's been at football camp for the last couple of days as well. I think you'll like Ice Age 2 :)

Claire - We went on Sunday as well to the Kino, but we went to the first showing so it wasn't too packed here in Marburg. We didn't meet a Mammoth though :)

Hey that's pretty good for a 7 year old, isn't that her age?? I'd venture to say she's still quite good for that age (that's my coaching side talking)

I'm thinking she's a real natural. I hope you encourage her to keep going because Germany always has had a great swimming program.

I'll definitely go see Ice Age II (or buy the DVD at least!) I loved the first one. Actually we just watched it recently again.

Juniorette's did really great. I wish I could do that in an hour without drowning after the 4th length ;-)

Expat - She is slowly outgrowing the swimming club she is in, and when she is ready (or wants to) she will more to a more competitive club.

Eurotrippen - I am currently trying negotiate a power sharing arrangement for when she takes over the world! I'll put in a good word :)

Canadianswiss - The first movie is fantastic. It's one of those movies thats good for both children and adults alike.
