The force was not with me

Mrs H and I went to the Fitness studio again yesterday. We didn’t have much time and thought we would just go some of the machines for 30 mins. Well after 5 mins on the cross trainer I was buggered. We are beginning to realise how out of shape we really are. In the end I decided to focus on the calories burned, and quit the cross trainer after burning 100 cal. I did the same on the cycling machine. I have no idea how much 200 cal is, but it’s got to be a double cheeseburger at least. I felt quite faint for periods of the afternoon, so the best course of action was to watch some Star Wars with the Juniorette. She so wants a light saber! :)

Today it’s snowing again and I need to get outside to chop some wood for the wood burner. Motivation seems to be a problem here again. I think I’ll drink tea for a while longer. It’s forecast to stop snowing this afternoon. I can chop wood then.

Ahem...calories in a double cheeseburger - 458! (I looked it up and am now regretting it)

Chopping wood must be good for something! Just look at all those muscular lumberjacks.

Dr. John - Looks like sound advice to me :)

Christina - I can't figure how so much hard work can relate to so few calories. For a normal ammount of food in a day. I would have to be the Gym for about 10 hours to burn it off!!

Bob - I have the same problem! - getting my arse their in the first place. ;)

Lillian - That sounds like the best idea to me!

J - Yep it isn't he same as the real thing. No beer gardens to stop at either! :)

You know if you don't enjoy the gym that much, you can always knock off a lot of calories with a brisk walk. Try doing 45 mins or even less to start off. It will be great for you as time goes on and you will actually see that you feel out of shape if you keep that up! I felt so good when I did that, but you need a good circular route so that you don't cheat...

Good luck with it all. I do think health is the most important thing in life. It makes me happy and actually helps to beat depression! :)

Expat - I've been for a couple of brisk walks in the last week, but only for about 15 mins. I need to find some longer routes. Trouble is I need to walk with someone.....else I get bored very quickly. So I go for a walk whenever Mrs H has time.

I just thought......perhaps I should utilise my MP3 player for the solo walks to keep me company :)

Thanks for the advice......and yeah you're right I'm not a major fan of the gym! :)

Well while I was living in Basel area, I had a few kilos to loose. I put on my walkman at the time (no mp3 yet) and forced myself to have a standard walk daily. I'd go for 45 mins and I'd just tell myself how good it was for my body and how much I really wanted to get back into shape.

I know it's hard. If it is any consolation, I haven't been onto my routine lately. Who could blame me with 27 days of rain in January and a new record. So while you've got cold, we've got too much rain! I promise to get back into starting in 1 more week. That's when we move to a flatter area of town!

It's quite wierd how you often see some of the same faces on different blogs. Anyway hopefullu the snow has stopped and the wood is chopped.

Star Wars is always a fun film although yesterday I watched Gladiator. Hope you find some motivation somewhere, feel free to share it if you do!

Finally thanks for your comment on my blog. :-)
